Platelet-rich plasma consists of two elements: plasma, or the liquid portion of blood, and platelets, a type of blood cell that plays an important role in healing throughout the body. Platelets are well-known for their clotting abilities, but they also contain growth factors that can trigger cell reproduction and stimulate tissue regeneration or healing in the treated area. Platelet-rich plasma is simply blood that contains more platelets than normal.
PRP treatments provide platelets, growth factors, and fibrin drawn from your own skin to be reinjected into varying areas of the face and neck. Your blood will be drawn similar to when you visit the lab. This blood is then spun, allowing for the separation of unwanted red blood cells and the platelet rich portion. PRP/PRF can therefore be microneedling into the skin and/or directly injected into areas such as the tear troughs, temples and neck. Over the days and weeks following the PRP treatment, growth factors released by the platelets stimulate the growth of new blood vessels and more collagen growth, thickening the epidermis and providing an improvement in the skin’s texture and tone.

How does this treatment work?
Your blood will be drawn similar to when you visit the lab. This blood is then spun in a centrifuge, allowing for the separation of unwanted red blood cells and the platelet rich portion. Once platelet rich plasma (PRP) is created from the patients own blood sample, the solution is injected into the treatment area such as the scalp for hair restoration. Studies show that the increased concentration of growth factors in platelet-rich plasma may stimulate or speed up the healing process, shortening healing time for injuries, and encourage hair growth. PRP injections can be effective in treating male pattern baldness, both in preventing hair loss and promoting new hair growth. PRP can also aid in the stimulation of hair growth after hair transplants.
What are the risks associated with PRP Hair Restoration?
PRP injections are made up of your own cells and plasma, therefore the risk of an allergic reaction is much lower than with other injectable medications like corticosteroids.
Less common risks of PRP injections include:
